Turf Group Presents School Board with Check for Field Study

The $85,000 check will help cover a study by WBA Group to look converting a field at Horace Greeley High School into turf.

The Chappaqua Turf Committee presented the an $85,000 check on Thursday to the Chappaqua school board to cover the cost of a study, which is needed to examine whether to do a turf conversion of the main athletic field at Horace Greeley High School.

The check presentation also included a signing of the study contract with WBA Group by Chappaqua school board President Aylson Kiesel. The district needed to sign off as a party to the agreement because it owns th property and needs to get support from the state Education Department, which could provide it with matching funds to pay for future field maintenance.

Last week, the board with WBA after receiving clarification about whether or not the committee, also called TC2, could pay the cost quickly enough in order for the board to avoid legal exposure in the deal.
