West End Faces 2nd Ossining School Bond Vote

Proposal, at $41.55 million, includes a series of major renovations for three schools in the district.

Residents of New Castle's West End, who reside in the Ossining school district, will have a chance today to vote on a scaled down bond to pay for a series of major school renovations.

The proposed bond is $41.55 million, a decrease of roughly $30 million from a larger bond proposal, which voters rejected last year.

Major work being proposed includes second-floor classroom additions and an auditorium renovation for , renovating science and music space at , and boiler replacements at both schools.

The bond will not result in a net tax increase from the cost, the school district's position states, because some older debt will soon be retired. State building aid, along with historically low interest rates are also among the factors that the district cites.
