This Coming Week: Chappaqua Crossing Public Hearings

1. It was announced that on Tuesday evening, the New Castle Town Board will resume a series of public hearings for the Chappaqua Crossing retail plan. They are for the proposed rezoning legislation to enable the plan and proposed changes to the town development plan. The hearings start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at town hall in Chappaqua.

Meanwhile, work on the proposal's final supplemental environmental impact statement (FSEIS) continues. Developer Summit/Greenfield, which is seeking to have 120,000 square feet of retail space, has submitted response comments to comments made during the spring regarding an earlier draft version of the document. The town has also uploaded its own market study, done by firm AKRF, which argues that there is unmet demand for certain types of retail and reacts favorably towards proposed storefront restrictions to prevent the establishment of smaller stores, believing they would mean a smaller chance of competition.
