This Coming Week: Sidewalk Sale; 'Taste of Chappaqua'

This week is anything but quiet, as there is live music, entertainment and summer shopping. Here's a look at what to expect:

Chappaqua Sidewalk Sale

The hamlet's annual downtown sidewalk sale will run this week from July 25 to July  27, according to an announce from the Chappaqua-Millwood Chamber of Commerce, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on each day. The sidewalk sale will include an array of merchants along King Street and South Greeley Avenue. Chappaqua-Millwood Business Association, a group supported by Family Britches owner Barry Mishkin, will also be supporting the sale, as it has done in previous years. The sidewalk sale also has its own Facebook page.

Taste of Chappaqua

Running concurrently with the sidewalk sale is the Taste of Chappaqua, which the chamber announced will be on July 27 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The event, sponsored by the chamber, is in its second year, and will include food samplings from several local restaurants. More than 15 restaurants will be participating, the chamber announced.

Last "Movies in Millwood Park" Screening

The last screening for the first-ever Movies in Millwood Park outdoor series will be on Friday night at 8:30 p.m., according to the chamber, which is supporting the event along with the Millwood Task Force, Drug Mart, and New Castle's Recreation and Parks Department. The screening this week will be for the movie "Here Comes the Boom." Millwood Park is located at 235 Saw Mill River Road (Route 100).

"One Hot Night" Performing

The group One Hot Night, a cover band of Neil Diamond, will be performing for the third installment of Chappaqua's annual summer concert series, the chamber announced. The series, which includes four acts over four weeks, is supported by New Castle's Recreation and Parks Department and includes more than a dozen local business sponsors. The performances starts on July 24 at 7 p.m., at the Gazebo on Recreation Field (along South Greeley Avenue) in Chappaqua.

Blood Drive at Mount Kisco Public Library

The Mount Kisco Public Library will host a blood drive this Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Jodi's Gym Kids' Concert

Jodi's Gym in Mount Kisco will hold a summer concert for kids on Monday at 4 p.m. The concert is for toddlers, ages 1 to 4. Click here for details.

Conifer Housing Proposal Hearings Continue

The New Castle Town Board will continue two public hearings on Tuesday night regarding Conifer Realty's Chappaqua Station affordable housing proposal, according to the meeting's agenda. One hearing will be for a special permit for the 28-unit building, while another will be for changes to the zoning code that would apply the dimensions of the town's Retail Business (B-R) zone to the site in the case of special permits for workforce housing, a change to a law adopted in 2010. The change would also allow for the town board to waive any conflicts between a proposal and the zone, although the zoning board of appeals could hear such a request if the town board were to deny it. The meeting will start at 8:30 p.m. at town hall in Chappaqua. For our previous coverage on Conifer, click here. To search for the agenda and its accompanying packet, click here.
