Mt. Kisco Diner's Overhaul Starts with Demolition

Work has started on the overhaul of Mt. Kisco Coach Diner, beginning with the demolition of an old building to the south of the existing diner.

The former Paul's Power structure was recently torn down, with only some rubble remaining. Work on the building's site continues, however.

The work began more than six months after the Mount Kisco Planning Board gave its approval for the project, which calls for combining the Paul's Power site with the diner's current site, both of which are on East Main Street (Route 117). In 2010, the Village Board of Trustees approved a rezoning measure so that both sites have the same type of zone.

The project includes adding new space to the diner totaling roughly 1,250 square feet, along with 13 new parking spaces. Aesthetic changes to the building are planned, including columns, a stucco and stone facade and a porch.

Harry Georgiou, whose family is the diner's owner, told Patch last week that the demolition is the first phase, with the next one being construction.
